Block A – make 18

Press seams toward the black when piecing the half square triangles and rectangles and toward the arrows as you assemble the blocks as shown below

Block B – make 17

Press seams toward the black when piecing the half square triangles and rectangles and toward the arrows as you assemble the blocks as shown below.

A and B blocks are alternated and sashed with the black background which is cut 2.5 inches.

There is a black border cut 2.5 inches.

Quilt notes – this quilt was designed for my sister, pieced by Mom and quilted and bound by me. While Mom was piecing it, Maureen decided she wanted a long skinny quilt so while the blocks are the same size (9 inches finished) and the sashing and borders are cut the same size (2.5 inches) her blocks are set differently – 4 x 7 versus the 5 x 7 in the original design.
