Julie, In the Quilt Notes section is says that although the drawing shows coins of equal width I used coins of different widths in my quilt(what I mean here is the width of each coin not the width of the strip which is 5.5 inches with seam allowances).
So for my quilt I used a variety of strips from my string bin from about 0.75 inches to 2.5 inches finished.
If I was going to use a single width strip - I’d cut mine 2 inches which would finish at 1.5 inches.
