My quilt in progress
This is the 30’s version Mom made
Another option is to go completely scrappy rather than alternating the light and dark blocks.
My finished quilt
Thanks for these instructions Mary, will be great to use the feed sack material I have and also use up some other ‘stash’

Mary, Thanks so much for these instructions. I have several old BOM’s from Thimbleberries that I never made – and now don’t want to make. I was wondering what I could do and love scrappy quilts — so I’ll use that fabric to make this at a retreat I’m attending in August. Thanks for solving my “what am I gonna do” dilemna!

Thanks for the great pattern. I have been looking for a pattern to make using fabric squares and this will work nicely. I will be using it for an “I Spy” quilt for my new newphew for his first single bed. I will be a riot of differnt fabrics and colour. Thanks for the idea!

Mary, Thank you so much for sharing this pattern I just love it. I made it scrappy out of odds & ends of fat quarters I have wanted to use up and it really made a pretty quilt. I think I will try it in shades of blue next time.
