Thank you once again for another free pattern. And it is a great one. I like that the pieces are cut from 3.5″ strips because I would think it would go together fairly quick. Love the borders. I can see this in a lot of color combos.

Love this pattern! I simplied it (for me anyway)and made quicker by eliminating some seams and sewing in rows instead of blocks. Less time matching seams and less thread tails to cut. Instead of 35 blocks, you have 21 rows [repeat of 7 x 3].
I cut 6-1/2″ bricks throughout except for the 3-1/2″ white squares and 7 ea. blue and red 3-1/2″ squares. Chain sewed each group of seven identical rows, then joined one row from each set in one long seam. To handle easier, I sewed rows in groups of 7, then joined the three groups.
Cut is 105 3-1/2″ white squares, 7 each 3-1/2″ red and blue squares; 49 each red and blue bricks 3-1/2″ x 6-1/2″.
Less matching of seams, less thread tails to cut. It’s not scrappy but still very attractive for 3 fabrics. Hope this makes sense.

Forgot to say – Press all seams in each row the same way, alternating between rows. Press Row 1 to left. Press Row 2 to right, etc. This makes joining corners between rows easier and neater.

I am asking permission to include your instructions for BRICKS RWB quilt block in a kit we hope to be offering at our booth at the Houston Quilt Festival. For a donation to Quilts of Valor, the “customer” will receive a stadium cup with the QOV logo. The cup will have instructions for one block (of their choosing), plus the fabric to make that one block. After the customer has made the block, they will mail it back to their respective state coordinator for inclusion in a quilt top which will then be quilted and awarded to a veteran.
