Change the layout of the blocks and you get this one.
A sashed version of the string log cabin blocks. Rather than half light and dark, these blocks use mostly medium and dark fabrics and the sashing and border are cut 2.5 inches.
Another sashed version
Here’s a quilt Julie made using the log cabin blocks without lights for a border
Very good instructions. Thanks.

Thanks so much for posting these patterns. I just love your log cabin at the top and decided to use up some of my scraps in blue and yellow to make a quilt. It is amazing how quickly they go together.. I have 30 blocks done and have been doing them in increments of 10…. around my 2 toddlers nap times the last week. Thanks again.

So glad I found your site. Now, I am confused. What pattern to start with? I do like the Log Cabin design, so I think I’ll start there. Will keep looking at your site. Thanks, GiGi

This is great! I have so many strings pilling up in my totes, I never knew that you could make log cabin blocks with strings, I’m printing your intructions off and adding them to my string totes.
Thank-you
